We attended the Regions Tradition golf tournament at Shoal Creek Country Club a couple of weeks ago. It’s one of the major events on the Champions Tour, and the only opportunity most of us have to get behind the gate at Shoal Creek.
Leah and I, for different reasons, like to watch Fred Couples. Jack likes the ice cream cooler. Layne has a new favorite after this year; seeing the princess.
Miss Alabama 2013 Chandler Champion was at the Childrens of Alabama tent, and Layne had to meet her.
“A real princess”, Layne whispered as we walked toward the tent. It really was precious.
Miss Champion gave Layne an autographed picture that Layne carried around all day. Every time we ran in to someone we knew, Layne would make sure that they saw her picture of the princess.
Aside from her name and a little heart, Miss Champion wrote two words on the picture, “Dream Big!”
I hope Layne dreams big, although last night she told me, “I always dream about princesses and Power Rangers.”
I hope you dream big also.
What is it you want to see? Where do you want to go? What do you want to do?
Today, particularly, I’ll hear a lot of people say, “if I can just make it through today, then I’ll have the weekend!” Then what? Are you just going to piddle around through the weekend until it’s time to go back to work?
Why don’t you chase some dreams? Dreaming isn’t limited to 4-year-olds, and certainly (hopefully) not limited to princesses and Power Rangers. You can dream. You can dream big!
Sometimes I write to an audience. Sometimes I write to myself. Maybe today I wrote to both.
Have a great Friday and a great weekend!
